How It all started...
It all began when Ric was on his way back from NH with his daughter Avril in early 2024. Ric has 3 daughters and a son....all of which love some TS music (Trip leans more to hair metal!)! Sadly it has been seemingly impossible to afford tickets to see TS music live as tickets rarely get below $2000 each...and for a family of 6 thats $12,000 PLUS FEES! Anyway, Ric was telling Avril (then 9) that he could start a tribute band and she could hear all her favorite songs live! Moments later several texts were sent out...One to Keith & Kendra, one to Todd and soon after one to Peter...Next thing you know we have a band in a matter of minutes! Next, during the long drive Avril and Ric decided to create a setlist...and now we have 1989 - TS music live and affordable for all!
Meet The Band!
Kendra (Lead Vocals, Guitar and Piano):
Kendra was born into a musical family, she competed in singing and performing competitions from ages 7-17, until finally hitting the local music scene at 17. she has been a part of numerous acts over the years including “719 Music Duo”, “Kendra & Jake”, “Para-tide A Paramore tribute”, guest appearances with "Firstbourne", “TG & Co.” and “The Michael Sweet Christmas Show”. At 25 years old, she now welcomes in this newest musical chapter into her life with her talented friends & Husband (Keith) on drums + BG vox. Together they hope you enjoy their Tribute to Taylor Swift music- 1989.
Ric (Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals):
Ric was just 14 years old when he realized he needed to buy a guitar. He recalls making one out of an Ohio State stadium seat cushion, some foam core and fishing line...After his parents saw this they realized he was serious, so the first guitar was purchased (at Music Unlimited). Ric jammed with high school friends and later with friends while living in Orlando and then St. Louis. Ric enjoyed having music on MTV's "The Real World" and "Road Rules" and later opened for Avril Lavigne at Riverport Amphitheater in St. Louis. Ric's musical influences pull from Metal, Blues, Pop, Jazz, Rock and a drop of Country. Today Ric has 3 daughters and a son with his wife Liz. He owns 2 music stores on the South Shore, The Music Box/Guitar Pedal Shoppe and Music Unlimited. The band idea came together quickly as all 5 of them work together and feel like family. He says, 99% of a band is getting along...so if we can have fun together and entertain our friends and family...mission accomplished!
Peter (Piano, Synth, Banjo, Mandolin, Guitars, Backing Vocals and Kazoo when needed):
Since learning to dabble on piano as a child and getting his first guitar at 15, Peter Fleury has been playing music passively since the late 90s. Influenced by bands ranging from Metallica, to other popular radio artists of the time like third eye blind, the Goo goo dolls, Peter took to playing coffee houses and talent shows. “I’ve always loved music and “1989” was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I’m thrilled to be able to play the songs people love alongside some incredible musicians.”
Todd (Bass, Backing Vocals):
Todd got his first guitar at age 14 but has been a lover of music since he was a toddler. He grew up on everything from Alabama to journey, Quiet Riot, Elvis, Willie Nelson and a slew of punk rock & hair metal. While he originally started on guitar, he soon after got his hands and a bass and quickly knew bass was where he needed to be. Todd has played both guitar and bass in many bands through the years including the punk band Socket and the nationally known funk metal fusion band Chemically Imbalance. As of late Todd has been holding down the low end in the radio rock band The 781 Band. Seeing the potential of 1989 Todd joined without hesitation knowing no matter what he’s playing he will grow as a musician.
Keith (Drums, Backing Vocals):
At the age of 2 Keith picked up his first pair of drum sticks and fell in love. As he got older his inspiration grew from watching music videos from Van Halen, Def Leppard & other phenomenal legendary musicians from before his time. At 13, he took to the stage for the first time as the drummer of “Livin’ on a Bad Name”, National Bon Jovi tribute, and hasn’t left since! He can also be seen + heard in his other past and current projects such as: “Jets to Alaska” “Left of Love” “Firstbourne” “719 Music Duo” “Stryper” albums as a background vocalist “Van Bracken” Van Halen Cover Band “Number of the Beast” Iron Maiden Tribute & Drummer/ background vocalist in “The Michael Sweet Christmas Show.”
